Are you looking for a personalized gift this holiday season? This is a great gift idea for the women in your life and I bet some guys would appreciate it after a long summer of grilling and getting their hands dirty.
My intention was to create a DIY gift of body butter that smelled like a cinnamon roll.... that didn't happen, but my cinnamon roll fail turned into an Almond Joy scented success! Tip #1 is save the cinnamon for body scrubs. The little granules don't melt down and it feels like you have sand in your body butter. I ended up straining my first batch through cheese cloth to get the cinnamon out...
What you need:
8oz cocoa butter (measured by weight)
1/4 cup coconut oil (measured in solid form)
1/4 cup sweet almond oil
1 vanilla bean
4 4oz jars
labels
After the cocoa butter, coconut oil and vanilla bean are all melted together add in your almond oil. Then transfer the melted oils from the pot into the mixer bowl. Next place the bowl in the refrigerator to start bringing them back to a solid state. Tip #2 don't put it in the freezer, the edges will harden and will not whip.
Once the oil is back to a semi solid state (think softened butter) you will want to whip it on a high speed. Then spoon the whipped body butter into jars. The body butter does firm up so be sure to get it in the jars before it gets too hard. For a softer body butter you can increase the amount of almond oil and decrease the amount of cocoa butter.
Making your own body butter is very easy and a great way to start making your own homemade body products!
I was able to find a cute label template over at Avery where all I had to do was type in the words and print!
